5 Things COVID-19 Taught Me

The Whine-Wine Blog

Because every rant, rave, or whine goes down better with a great glass of wine!!

Y’all I have to admit it’s been a little rough these past months. My emotions have been all over the place. But boy, have I learned so much about myself and about life in general.

So here are the five things COVID taught me:

Number one, love yourself, no matter what. I got down because I lost my job due to the pandemic. Yeah, I know it wasn’t my fault but being lumped into the statistic of 30 million people unemployed due to the pandemic messes with your head. I learned that it has no reflection on me or my skillset. I learned to just trust God. He always has a plan.

Two, don’t rest on your laurels. I worked hard all my life, and I couldn’t sit around the house and feel sorry for myself. I have a skill set that’s out of this world. I have so much to share and teach others. That’s precisely what I’m going to do!

Three, do what you love. Because I just couldn’t sit still, I decided to restart my career with Mary Kay Cosmetics, I absolutely love it because I can direct my own path, chart my personal advancement, I can use my life skills to help others, I control my time, and I can teach. Teaching is my superpower!

Four, nothing is promised. I lost my job despite doing what’s right, so you might as well have some fun. I realized fun was missing from my life. I went to a job that I dreaded. I worried about bills, and that kept me at that job. Now, I love what I do, and it’s hard to tear me away. I jump out of bed every morning, excited to see who I can help that day, and make them feel special.

Finally, be true to your authentic self. I’ve journeyed a thousand miles just to come back full circle to me. I listened to this one about having to change my blog to make it more focused. I listened to the other about having to get a steady job. I had suggestions on what products and services I needed to offer for Poetry In Motion II. And through it all, trying to make those changes because that’s what the industry called for, I was miserable. That wasn’t me.

So what my blog talked about everything under the sun. So what I liked to help a variety of people through my business no matter if they are writers or not. That’s what makes me happy. My true nature is to teach, to heal, and to help! Therefore, I will continue to write the Wednesday Wine/Whine blog because it makes me happy. If you don’t get it, well, that’s ok, just connect with me, and I’ll explain!
