45 What an idiot!?!
A house divided is easily conquered. Does the 45th President of the United States understand this? You know this past weekend I decided to unplug from the news hang out with some friends and just decompress from all of the horrible events taking place in our country. From the hurricanes to impeding war with South Korea I just had to turn the news off. It was getting to be a little overwhelming.
But when I plugged back in on Sunday, I was utterly dismayed at the comments Trump made regarding Collin Kaepernick, the NFL and Steph Curry. At first, I was speechless but y’all know I’m not at a loss for words for too long. So here goes and please forgive me for this long rant!
First off, the Declarations of Independence states:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. —
This gives the right to every American to pursue a life that is not inhibited by fear of losing his or her life. All Americans including black and brown people have the same rights to pursue the type of jobs they want, where they want to live, who they want to marry etc. No President can insinuate that any person of color should just sit down and shut up because they were “given” the right to play pro sports and therefore making a plethora of money! In Trump’s racially coded speech he essentially said those N!$&$%& have the audacity (well using the word audacity is too big a word for Trump – none the less) to complain when “we” aka White Privileged men are giving them the opportunity to make all that money carrying a football.
Secondly, he looked like a buffoon trying to spin his racially coded message into some sort of stand for patriotism. Where was he when his country needed him for the Vietnam war? He dodged the draft not once, not twice, not three times but five times. Yes, he’s a true blooded American. Couldn’t even fight for his country! Please help me understand how this ignorant little man can stand to say someone should be fired for taking a knee during the national anthem and has never fought for his country?
Oh, say can you see, By the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed, At the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars, Through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, Were so gallantly streaming. And the rocket's red glare, The bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night, That our flag was still there. Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave, For the land of the free, and the home of the brave.
Trump has never seen a battle field. He has never seen the flag fly over in triumphant victory. He has no bones in this fight. He has no right to say a damn thing on whether anyone should kneel or stand for the flag. He gave up that right when he refused to fight for his country.
He claims this isn’t about race. The hell it isn’t. Trump and his core followers truly believe that people of color should have no rights in this country. It was evident with his comments about Charlottesville. It’s evident in his attack on the NFL. It’s also evident in his lack of support and concern for the people in Puerto Rico.
This following part of the Declarations of Independence really spoke to me:
That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
“That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government.” I believe it is time to impeach Trump. He has become destructive to what the Flag stands for. He has become destructive of what this very country was built on – Freedom. America is for all people not just for the privileged few!
Trump is dividing our country. He’s pitting the rich against the poor. He’s pitting people of color against white people. He’s pitting democrat against republican. Trump hasn’t lived up to his campaign slogan “Make America Great Again”. What he has lived up to was his true campaigned slogan “Make America White Again.”
People don’t stop protesting. Don’t stop calling for impeachment. If we all stick together we can get him out of the office and truly make America great again!
